Types Of Civil Cases Handled By Family Law Attorney

There are several different types of civil cases with the most common being domestic such as divorce, custody, visitation, child support, and the division of marital property. Contracts are also seen in civil court cases such as disputes over a written or oral agreement for the payment of goods or services. Personal injury cases can also be seen in civil court in which a person sues another for injuries or damages for that occurred due to negligence.

Civil cases are normally disputes between individuals or companies in which a person or a group of individuals claim that another person or company failed to keep a legal duty to the group or individual. In cases, where an individual or group of individuals were harmed they may file a civil case to receive compensation for damages they received due to the negligence of another person or company.

Civil suits can be filed in state or federal courts and are governed locally as well as federally according to the claims.

Everyone has the right to file a civil court case for violation of their civil rights including such things as discrimination, fulfilling the terms of a contract, and so on and so forth.

To understand both state and federal laws governing civil cases, you will need to contact a lawyer that understands the laws regarding your type of case. If you have a civil case regarding child support, then you will need a child support lawyer and if you have a civil case regarding sexually discrimination, then you will need a discrimination lawyer.
